Do I need to have a bridal trial?


A bridal trial is the best way to make sure you are going to feel confident and comfortable in the makeup look you have chosen for the day as well as your makeup artist, however a trial is not at all compulsory. It is totally up to you, a lot of my previous brides have just booked in for the wedding day and that is fine.




Where does the trial take place?


The trial often takes place in my home studio, half-way between between Feilding and Palmerston North. I am more than happy to come to you at your home however there may be a small travel fee included depending on the location.




How long does a trial take?


A trial can take anywhere between an hour to 1.5 hours. The time is dependant on the look you are after and making sure we can get it just right and how you want it.




What happens at the trial?


At the trial we sit down and discuss the look you are wanting to achieve with the wedding as a whole and then we go over what look will work best with your style and features in regard to the makeup. If you are completely unsure or don't wear much makeup on a regular basis then we will do a pretty, fresh look to start with and can develop it from there.

It is a good idea to bring along any pictures of makeup looks that you like or images of anything that may help choosing the tone of the makeup look.




Can I bring someone?


Yes of course you can! It is always helpful to have another opinion and support crew.




I have sensitive skin.


If you have sensitivities of any kind then please bring along with you your own skincare and base products (concealer, foundation etc). Better to be safe than sorry.




What if I change my mind after the trial about the makeup look?


That is absolutely fine! You are welcome to book in for a second trial however any adjustments can be discussed over the phone or via email and it is very easy to just make the adjustments on the day.




What if I have to cancel or change my booking?


Wedding season is a Makeup Artists busiest time of year and bookings tend to start a year in advance which means I start turning away business. If you need to cancel or change a booking it is much appreciated if you can get in contact as soon as you can.
Changes to bookings:
Any changes to your booking must be made via phone and/or in writing.
Kate will do her best to accommodate any changes to the booking to the best of her abilities.

Cancellation policy details:

4 months in advance of your booking.
If a cancellation is made 4 months or more ahead of the booking then the client will be refunded 100% of the deposit paid.
3 months in advance of your booking.
If a cancellation is made 3 months prior to your booking then the client will pay 100% of the deposit.

Additional charges:
If you fail to show up for your appintment, you will be charged 100%.

Kate reserves the right to cancel any booking via email if these terms are breached. No booking is confirmed until specified via email.




Unforseen circumstances


Cancelling out on a wedding or makeup appointment is tricky business and something I aim to avoid at all costs however sometimes life takes things out of our control and we just have to do our best to work with it. At this stage it is an issue I haven't had to deal with yet so fingers crossed it stays that way! If say I was to fall ill for example you would get a full refund of any money that has been paid and that is all I can really do at this stage. Unfortunately it is just one of those risks that I hope won't happen but we do have to factor in. I do have a number of great Makeup Artist friends that I am happy to pass their details on to you if this was to ever happen.




What products are in my kit?


I have a number of brands that I love to work with but my all time favourite is Bobbi Brown - a brand that I had the lucky priviledge of working for 10 years+. Some other favs include brands such as MAC, Giogio Armani, Estee Lauder.




Do I travel?


YES!!! I love to travel and will jump at the opportunity to visit new places whether it be out the back of no-where or getting on a plane to goodness knows where.




Privacy


Your name, address, phone number, email address and any other personal information that is held is for the sole use of Kate O'Hara Makeup. This information will not be sold or rented to any third party.

Kate understands that privacy is essential and will respect all clients' privacy by refraining from publishing any personal details or photographs of the client on social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter unless the client has given permission for Kate to do so.

Kate will only ever disclose private information if required to do so by law.
